Gain insights into the CO2e emissions along your value chain

Determining the carbon footprint of a product is often complex and time-consuming, as CO2e emissions are generated at various points along a product’s value chain. This information must first be successfully requested from suppliers and verified before it can contribute to the calculation of the PCF.

Our Services

    Algorithm-based quantification and learning system

    • The assignment of your materials and components to emission factors or primary data from suppliers is algorithm-based. Our learning Telusio engine enables the automatic recognition of input data (e.g. materials).

High level of detail and verification

    • Our work is based on the activity-based method in accordance with the GHG protocol and ISO standard 14067 (bottom-up approach), including verification by GUTCert.

      Robust and future-oriented

      • Our software and data-based approach enables a high level of transparency and verifiability of the calculation and the results. In addition, we can flexibly process and combine emission values from your suppliers as well as from recognized emission databases.

      Structured data preparation

      • You send us your unprocessed input data once, we take care of the data processing, quantification and prepare various analysis options for you. In addition, purchased composite components are no longer a black box. With our Telusio method, we also determine the CO2e emissions for these – even if your supplier is not yet able to provide information.

      Efficient Calculation
      of a Product’s
      Emissions

Our calculations are based on the activity-based method of the GHG Protocol and the ISO 14067 standard. This is verified by GUTcert.

Therefore you get very detailed results based on your activity data, suitable for a third-party verification.

      Our Consultation Offer

We support you in determining the product carbon footprint of your products.

When determining the product carbon footprint, we consider all relevant aspects along the life cycle of the product in accordance with the relevant standards (ISO standard 14067 and GHG Protocol). This is done either within the system boundaries of the Cradle-to-Gate (from the cradle to the factory gate), Cradle-to-Customer (from the cradle to the customer) or Cradle-to-Grave (from the cradle to the grave) assessment.

How does the Product Carbon Footprint calculation work in detail?

The evaluation of the “material carbon footprint”, i.e. the emissions caused by procurement and pre-processing, serves as the base dimension for determining the total greenhouse gases produced. In this calculation step, all emissions from procurement and pre-processing (materials, purchased goods and services, packaging, as well as auxiliary and operating materials) are included. This dimension forms the basis of every calculation, as here, most emissions are usually generated.

In the next step, the calculation of the “Logistic Carbon Footprint”, the emissions generated in the upstream transportation of suppliers to your production site (upstream logistics), are considered.

The emissions from the relevant production processes are then calculated at product level. Direct and indirect emissions from Scope 1 and 2, as well as other emissions from Scope 3, are included here, such as other energy-relevant activities and waste.

For the Cradle-to-Gate calculation, the assessment of the product carbon footprints is now complete, while for the Cradle-to-Customer PCF perspective, the emissions from downstream transportation are also taken into account.

For the Cradle-to-Grave calculation, the emissions from the usage phase and disposal are also calculated.

The Core of our Service Portfolio is the TELUSIO Engine

With our learning Telusio Engine, we can offer a scalable CO2e calculation of your products.

      This includes:

      • Automatic recognition of input data (e.g. materials and purchased components) by the learning system.
      • Algorithm-based quantification of your bill of materials and other input data with emission factors or primary data from your suppliers.

Based on this, we can offer you a very systematic, scalable and resource-saving approach to CO2e determination.
