Initial Situation
BDT Bearings & Drive Technology GmbH is an internationally active manufacturer of rolling bearings and precision components for industrial applications.
The company supplies industrial customers worldwide and operates within global, multi-tier supply chains.
Challenge
Increasing customer pressure meant that BDT Bearings & Drive Technology GmbH increasingly had to provide reliable CO₂ and PCF calculations at very short notice. These requirements often came with tight deadlines and little to no lead time.
At the same time, the data situation along the supply chain was unreliable. In particular, Chinese suppliers provided no emissions data or no reliable data at all. This led to uncertainty in assumption-based calculations and internal doubts regarding their validity and robustness.
Additional complexity arose from the logistics structure: Containers with mixed products made it difficult to clearly allocate emissions at the individual product level, significantly increasing the complexity of accurate PCF calculations.
In parallel, a clear scalability challenge emerged. While initially only a small number of products were affected, it quickly became apparent that the scope would expand to 300–500 products in the short term and up to 5,000 items in the long term.

Solution
To address the challenges described, BDT Bearings & Drive Technology GmbH decided on a solution in which the operational responsibility for PCF creation was fully outsourced. The objective was to obtain reliable results at short notice—without having to build internal resources or CO₂ expertise.
Telusio assumes full ISO-compliant PCF creation, covering the entire process: from structuring product data and deriving methodologically robust assumptions to delivering verifiable results for tenders and customer projects.
A key focus was on ensuring that PCF results remain reliable and traceable even with incomplete data. Missing supplier data was supplemented with methodologically validated assumptions, without compromising the comparability or quality of the results. In parallel, a solution was established that was designed for scalability from the outset—not limited to individual products.
Through close collaboration, BDT Bearings & Drive Technology GmbH was able to provide auditable PCF results within one week—even for short-notice requests and tight deadlines. At the same time, a robust foundation was created to confidently address future customer and tender requirements.

With the TELUSIO software, BDT Bearings & Drive Technology GmbH can now progressively calculate the carbon footprint values across its entire product portfolio, thereby establishing a sustainable and compliant business practice in the long term.
As a result, BDT Bearings & Drive Technology GmbH not only gains access to current, compliant data, but also the ability to identify emission hotspots at the individual product level.
