‘Regulatory requirements make it essential to calculate the carbon footprint of the products we sell.
We wanted to ensure that we meet the requirements while also creating sustainable competitive advantages.’

Starting Position

Fakten zu Koenig & Bauer

The ANSMANN AG, headquartered in Assamstadt, Germany, is an internationally active company that specialises in mobile energy products.
Since its foundation in 1991, ANSMANN has offered customised solutions in the areas of battery packs, chargers, power supplies and drive systems for applications such as e-mobility, medical technology and power tools. In addition, the company develops LED lighting, power banks and power stations for mobile power supply.

Challenges

ANSMANN AG is pursuing the goal of becoming climate-neutral in terms of energy production and consumption by 2025.

ANSMANN is also preparing for the battery passport, which will require numerous environmental information, including the CO2 footprint, for many battery types from 2026 in accordance with the EU Battery Regulation. Missing or incorrect CO2e calculations can lead to market bans, loss of sales, reputational damage and fines. Competitors who start early with CO2e analysis can reduce emission-intensive processes and achieve better performance classes.

In order to be prepared, ANSMANN is starting the CO2 footprint calculation for five key products. These pilot projects are designed to optimize processes, identify data gaps and create a scalable PCF solution.

Regulatory requirements demand timely reporting of the carbon footprint of all products
Complex and sometimes opaque global supply chains make it difficult to obtain information from suppliers
Individual calculations for a broad product portfolio require a lot of internal resources

In TELUSIO, ANSMANN found the ideal partner to implement the CO2 calculation in a dynamic and scientifically sound manner. The software enables ISO-compliant CO2 footprint calculations even with incomplete supply chain data – an optimal preparation for the battery passport.

TELUSIO automatically recognizes materials in bills of materials (BOMs) and assigns them the appropriate emission values. The modular system stores material and emissions data so that it can be reused for future calculations. The software also enables CO2e calculations to be updated annually in order to always comply with the latest standards and regulatory requirements.

The TELUSIO solution offers efficiency and accuracy: automated data analysis saves time and resources, while precise, science-based emission factors deliver reliable results. Flexible scalability enables application to the entire product portfolio, and ISO-compliant reports ensure regulatory compliance.

What characterises the collaboration?

With the TELUSIO software, ANSMANN can now successively calculate the carbon footprint values of its entire product portfolio, thus establishing sustainable and compliant business practices in the long term.
ANSMANN now not only has access to current and ISO-compliant data, but also the ability to identify emission hotspots of individual products.
This makes it possible to implement targeted emission reduction measures and to fulfil the regulatory requirements in order to ensure market availability in the future.

Checkbox zu den Vorteilen der PCF Automatisierung
Efficient and precise calculation of the carbon footprint for batteries
Transparency across the entire supply chain
Establish a scalable solution that can be extended to the entire product portfolio
Fulfilment of the requirements of the battery passport and other regulatory requirements
‘Thanks to TELUSIO, we have not only found a solution for calculating CO2, but have also created the basis for long-term, sustainable and legally compliant business practice.’

What is the next step in our collaboration?

With the emission values calculated by TELUSIO, ANSMANN is well prepared to meet the challenges of the future and continue to play a pioneering role in the field of sustainable energy systems.

After the successful pilot project and the calculation of the first products, the team is currently discussing how the other product segments can be calculated – in a way that conserves resources and is effective, building on the knowledge already gained.

The goal is to gradually and sustainably achieve transparency regarding CO2e emissions across the entire product portfolio.
We look forward to continuing our collaboration!
