Carbon Awareness in Your Company

When looking at manufacturing companies, a strong cost perspective often dominates. Every initiative, every product variant and every further development is viewed primarily from a cost perspective. At the same time, CO2 and its reduction are supposed to play an increasingly important role. This push often comes from the sustainability department and management. But how do I bring this into my company across the board?

The answer is: through transparency. By being able to show a CO2 value for every product manufactured, every component purchased and every production process step, there is a chance to establish data-based carbon awareness. Discussions about delivery routes, choice of suppliers, product variants, new product developments etc. then take place not purely from a cost perspective, but supplemented by possible CO2 impacts. Showing, “carrying along” and using the CO2 metric thus gradually becomes routine in all departments – and not just in sustainability.

This is how I create a new awareness in the company and come significantly closer to my sustainability goals and net-zero ambitions.
