CBAM cost analysis for purchasing
For component manufacturers who buy purchased parts and materials outside Europe. CBAM costs are rising and are set to apply to further product groups. We analyse whether and from when sourcing in Europe pays off.

The challenges with CBAM
Free allocation in the EU Emissions Trading System ends by 2034. CBAM costs rise every year.
According to the European Commission's plans, around 180 further products will be added from 2028, such as machinery and vehicle parts.
Without suppliers' emissions data, high EU default values apply.
The result: Sourcing outside Europe can lose its cost advantage.
How Telusio creates the CBAM cost analysis
Match your bill of materials against the current and the planned CBAM scope
We fill in missing materials, weights, origins and emission values
Vary sourcing shares, CO₂ price, years and data quality
Presentation of the results, in a joint workshop on request
You receive: a results report, the analysis and evaluation results per part, supplier and origin and, on request, a joint workshop.
CBAM purchasing scenarios compared
We calculate with your bill of materials instead of averages per commodity group and show where switching supplier or sourcing location saves costs.

Your CBAM result with Telusio
You see for each purchased part and material at which CO₂ price and from which year Europe pays off compared with Asia, and choose suppliers and locations accordingly.
You know the expected CBAM costs until 2034 and can factor them into costing, budget and prices.
You can check your suppliers' CO₂ surcharges and know for which suppliers actual emissions data instead of EU default values pays off.
You already know today which purchased parts and materials would be affected by the planned extension and have time to adapt your supply chain.
From a machine builder's practice
Based on the bill of materials, we simulated for every part and every affected supplier how emissions change with sourcing entirely from Europe. The product's emissions fell by more than 10 %. As a next step, the same scenarios can be extended by CBAM costs.
