Nina Thalberg and Dr. Johannes Weibl, managing director of Telusio, have published a specialist article in the magazine PN Praxis Nachhaltigkeit of the IWW Institute. The article offers practical solutions for companies facing the challenge of incomplete data in the supply chain.
The article provides a broad overview of the different approaches to PCF calculation – from handling it internally to working with external service providers.
As 86% of mechanical engineering companies struggle with incomplete emission data from suppliers, another focus of the article is calculating the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) despite missing information. Secondary data and digital tools that automate the process and close data gaps efficiently can be used as a solution. It also discusses how companies can optimise their internally performed calculations through workshops and structural data checks.
These approaches enable companies to meet the requirements of sustainability reporting despite a challenging starting situation, while conserving their internal resources.
The full article can be read here in the current issue of PN Praxis Nachhaltigkeit.
