With the introduction of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), many companies are required to record and report not only their direct emissions (Scope 1 and 2), but also their Scope 3 emissions in accordance with the GHG Protocol (Greenhouse Gas Protocol).

However, the complete calculation of a company’s Scope 3 emissions can pose a number of challenges. Suppliers are often unable to provide information on the emissions of their products, which means that primary values are often difficult to obtain for the reporting company.
